The Government Inspector

‘The Government Inspector’ by Nikolai Gogol is a satirical play that exposes the ridiculous, and often unscrupulous, pretence that local government undertakes in order to appear effective to its superiors.

Directors Note

The play has realism at its heart but also elements of farce and comedy which make it a joy to perform and it is the comedy that I aim to bring to the fore in this production.  Through the playing of games in rehearsals it is my aim to create an exciting and playful performance – one that engages the audience on many levels.
