Venue
The LOST Theatre is a marvellous 180 seat theatre just 7 minutes walks from Stockwell Tube Station. Home to the LOST Theatre Company, this venue, completely re-built and kitted out in 2009 offers a level of comfort and technical excellence few other fringe venues in London can match.
What’s included
If your entry is accepted by the Festival Artistic Committee, you will be offered the following:
•An evening performance slot at the LOST Theatre within the time period given (see schedule), which will include 10 minutes get-in, the performance period as detailed in your entry form plus 5 minutes get-out. The slot, once allocated cannot be changed so please ensure full availability within the performance period.
•A Technical/Dress rehearsal on the day of your performance. This will be daytime and as with the performance slot allocation is non-negotiable. Please ensure all cast and everything required for your performance is available. This will be your only opportunity to rehearse the show in the venue prior to your performance.
•A Technical Operator and an overall Festival Manager will be present for your Technical/Dress rehearsal and performance. We do not allow outside technical staff to operate. Outside technical staff may not be backstage unless by prior arrangement.
•Full administration including Publicity and Insurance.
•A presenter to introduce and MC the whole evening.
•Substantial discounts on our normal rehearsal room hire rates.
Entry fees
LOST is a non profit-making company so in order to cover costs, we ask that each company pay a non-refundable fee of £60. This is payable on your acceptance of the slot offered. This fee goes towards covers administration, publicity & running costs.
Entry considerations
As well as keeping within the 20-45 minute time slot, we ask that you consider the following:
•As technical and get-in/out time is limited it is advisable not to be reliant on elaborate staging, sets or effects. There is a limited amount of storage space available at the venue and please remember this has to be shared with 2 other shows.
•No costumes or props can be stored at the venue before or after your performance day. So if you can't carry it to and from the venue it is not advisable to use it.
•If the running time at the dress rehearsal should exceed 45 minutes or be under 20 minutes the show will be allowed to perform (subject to a decision by the One Act Festival Co-ordinators), but will be withdrawn from the Festival and will not receive and adjudication.
Rehearsal Space
LOST isn't able to supply free rehearsal space, but we do realise how difficult it is for plays to find affordable space. Therefore we offer all participants’ half price rates for our rehearsal rooms. The cost of hiring Studio Two is usually £14 per hour – this will be reduced to £7.00 per hour for all Festival participants, while Studio One normally cost £17 per hour – this we will cut to £8.50 per hour. This is subject to availability.
Adjudication
This year we are pleased to announce that our Adjudicator will be Paul Vale. Paul has been a reviewer and feature writer for The Stage for 16 years. In his long career associated with theatre, particularly fringe productions, musical theatre and cabaret, he has also written for Amateur Stage, Theatregoer Magazine and currently Musical Theatre Review. He was one of the inaugural judges for the Off-West End Awards and this year had the pleasure of returning to the LOST One Act Play Festival.
Tickets
Each company will be allocated two complimentary tickets for the evening their show is performing, these are intended for the writer and director, however, if they are unable to attend these tickets may be used for other persons.
Box office capacity permitting all other members of their company will be allowed in to watch the other companies perform on their night.
LOST will provide tickets for industry professionals at the concessionary rates provided we are given the names in advance.
