The Five Minute Festival 2012

We live in an age when no-one has time.

Average viewers spend between 3 and 7 minutes on an internet video.

Advertisers get whole stories into 30 seconds.

Reduced Shakespeare squeezed the bard’s works into 70 minutes.

Hamlet thought brevity the soul of wit.

The Japanese that haiku was the highest form of art.

Ten companies per night will battle it out with five minute pieces designed to entertain a sell-out live audience; an industry panel and online viewers at home. Only ten companies can make it to the Grand Final where one will crowned winner.
The artistic content of the Festival will cover a wide range of disciplines including dance, theatre, spoken word, poetry, physical theatre, ensemble work and devised work from some of the UK’s most exciting new talents.
