Does the entry have to be completely new piece?
Yes, this Festival is about discovering and celebrating new writing. If you have a piece that is in the early stages of development – that too is also fine.
I am not resident in the UK but I have a musical – can I still enter?
Yes by all means send us your musical if you are not a UK resident. The nature of the Festival means that we cannot accept entries that are not backed by a production crew.
What happens if I’m offered a slot on the reserve list?
Not every show that applies to enter the Festival finds that if selected, it is able to take up the offer of a slot. Therefore the Festival’s Artistic panel select a number of shows that they feel meet their criteria and ask if they would be happy to be placed on our reserve list. Should a slot in the Festival come free, a company from the reserve list will be asked if they would like to take their place.
Deadline for receipt of entries: Friday 20th March
Offer of performance slot: Monday 23rd March
Production Meeting: Sunday 29th at 2pm – this will be a chance to visit the space and be talked through the technical arrangements.

Rules for The Musical Box Festival 2015
1. The Musical Box Festival is open to shows of between 20 and 30 minutes duration.
2. All extracts submitted are subject to acceptance by the Festival Artistic Committee. We reserve the right to refuse plays without reason.
3. Some shows may be held on a reserve list and admitted in the event of withdrawals. Being on the reserve list does not guarantee performance in the Festival.
4. All companies shall provide a synopsis of the full musical, a script for the extract, a recording of the music submitted and an outline for the future of the musical. We will not be responsible for returning any hardcopy that have been submitted.
5. Performance dates/times: All companies must be available to perform on any Festival performance dates - LOST Theatre will announce the Performance Dates and Times one week before the Festival & they are non-negotiable.
6. Each show will receive a Technical/Dress rehearsal on the day of your performance. This will be daytime and as with the performance slot allocation is non negotiable.
7. LOST will provide a Festival operator and a Festival manager. The Festival manager is there to oversee the entire Festival and not to stage manage individual plays. No outside technical staff are permitted to operate the lighting or sound equipment.
8. General lighting states will be provided. This will be notified to the shows in advance.
9. A Technical script must be sent to LOST by the specified deadline (Monday 6th April). This script must be as close to the performed script as possible. Any major alterations to the script after this must be notified to LOST immediately.
10. Due to the number of shows no costumes or props can be stored at the venue. LOST cannot accept responsibility for any items of property brought onto or left at the premises.
11. Tickets will be sold for each evening of the Festival and not individual shows. Tickets will be available through the Box Office. LOST reserves the right to refuse admittance without reason.
12. Anyone deemed to be breaking any of LOST Theatre's rules and regulations will be disqualified from the Festival and asked to leave the premises immediately. All participants must abide by LOST’s rules and constitution.
