Taking The Shakes Out Of Shakespeare

2 Day Workshop

Are you auditioning for drama school?

Are you afraid that your Shakespeare speech will let you down?

Are you worried about working in front of and with other candidates in drama school recalls?

Every year the vast majority of candidates for drama schools will fail to get a place.

Often those who are successful are no more talented than those that fail.

So what's the difference?

CONFIDENCE

Nobody is naturally confident in life.

Confident people have prepared well, and have confronted their fears and anxieties and realised they are groundless.

This unique intense, two day workshop is designed to send you into your drama school auditions, including recalls, with increased levels of confidence, giving you that vital edge over your competitors.

Often candidates are particularly anxious about doing their classical or Shakespeare piece, and this can affect their entire audition. They may also be concerned about performing in front of other candidates, and interacting with them at recalls.

Our course deviser Patrick Wilde is a Shakespearean expert and has taught at drama schools and is ideally placed to alleviate any such anxiety.

What are the advantages of group tuition over one-to-one classes?

•    One-to-one time with a tutor as part of the course, but you will focus entirely on Shakespeare to get rid of your fears and misconceptions.

•    Observe other members of the group being coached and directed.  This can be more instructive and useful than being coached yourself.

•    Rehearse your speech, using other members of the group, with the other “characters” in place to address and react to (impossible to recreate in one-to-one tuition.)

•    Experience the group dynamic often encountered in drama school auditions, especially recalls, where group exercise, improvisation and theatre games are used, so you won’t be fazed by any of this on real audition days.

•    Meet and talk to other people going through the same experience as you, which is immensely helpful for evaluating where you are in the process and what your specific needs are.
